Blessing of the Animals
On a Sunday near the Feast of St. Francis, we gather outdoors for the Holy Eucharist and give thanks for all creation. Animals receive a special blessing, and the morning is filled with joy.

Advent

As Christmas draws near, families prepare Advent wreaths and, on the Sunday closest to St. Nicholas Day, welcome the beloved bishop who shares chocolate gold coins and the story of his generosity and care for others.

Christmas

Christmas Eve and Christmas morning gather family, friends, neighbors, and visitors to celebrate the birth of Christ with beautiful music, candlelight, and the Holy Eucharist.

Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras)

We bring a little Mardi Gras spirit to the Anglican tradition of Shrove Tuesday, with pancakes, colorful beads, Zydeco music, and plenty of laughter. We sing “Alleluia” one last time before Easter and prepare ashes from the previous year’s palms.

Lent

Simple soup suppers, inspiring presentations, and meaningful conversation invite us into a season of reflection, prayer, and renewal.

St. David’s Day

On the Sunday closest to March 1, we celebrate our patron saint with a little Welsh spirit and a little San Diego flavor—Welsh bakery treats alongside tacos, reflecting the cultures that shape our life together. We remember St. David’s call to “do the little things” with faithfulness and love.

The Great Easter Vigil

As darkness falls, we gather around the new fire, hear the ancient stories of God’s saving love, renew our baptismal promises, and share the first Eucharist of Easter.

Easter Day. Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Easter morning bursts with joy—flowers, music, and the celebration of the risen Christ. After worship, the celebration continues with games and activities for all, including the annual Easter egg hunt.

Mother’s Day Tea

On the Friday before Mother’s Day, everyone is invited to a festive, themed tea, with homemade sandwiches and treats, conversation, and a bit of fun. Reservations are required. On Mother’s Day, each mother in our midst receives a flower as we celebrate the love and care of mothers in our lives

Pentecost. The Birthday of the Church!

Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and the birth of the Church. Red, orange, and yellow fill the day, from what we wear to colorful cupcakes and treats. After worship, the celebration continues with a taco feast as we rejoice in the Holy Spirit moving among us still today.

The Sacraments are outward and visible signs of God’s grace—sacred moments when we experience God’s loving presence in our lives. Through water, bread and wine, prayer, touch, and blessing, the ordinary becomes a means through which we encounter the holy.

Healing and Anoiting

In times of illness, uncertainty, grief, or other need, the Church offers prayer, the laying on of hands, and anointing with blessed oil. These prayers are not reserved for the end of life. They offer God’s healing, comfort, strength, and presence whenever they are needed. Please contact Fr. Kirby if you or someone you love would welcome prayer and anointing.

Baptism

Baptism begins a lifelong journey of faith. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are joined with Christ and welcomed into the Christian community. Baptisms are normally celebrated during Sunday worship, surrounded by a community that promises to support the newly baptized throughout their life of faith.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion, also known as the Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper, is at the heart of our worship. We gather around the Table to share the blessed bread and wine and encounter Christ's real presence among us. All baptized Christians are invited to receive Communion, and anyone may come.

Confirmation and Reception

Confirmation offers baptized Christians an opportunity to affirm their faith and deepen their commitment to life with Christ. Those confirmed in another Christian tradition may be received into the Episcopal Church. The bishop celebrates both through prayer and the laying on of hands.

Marriage

Marriage celebrates the sacred covenant of two people committing themselves to a life of love, faithfulness, and mutual care, surrounded by the prayers and support of the community. In the Episcopal Church, marriage is open to all couples regardless of sexual orientation. Couples are encouraged to contact Fr. Kirby well in advance of their hoped-for wedding date.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation, sometimes called Confession, offers a confidential opportunity to name what weighs upon us and receive the assurance of God’s forgiveness and grace. Fr. Kirby is available to anyone wishing to explore or receive Reconciliation.

Ordination

Some are called to serve the Church as deacons, priests, or bishops. Through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, the Church recognizes and blesses that call to ordained ministry. Those discerning a possible call to ordained ministry are invited to begin the conversation with Fr. Kirby.

Burial

In the face of death, the Church gathers in grief and in hope. The Burial service is an Easter liturgy that gives thanks for the life of the person who has died and proclaims the promise of resurrection and new life in Christ. The prayers, Scripture, and music also surround those who mourn with the community's love and care. If death is near, or has occurred, please contact Fr. Kirby so that he can accompany you and help with arrangements.
