Blessing of the Animals
On the Sunday close to the Feast of St. Francis we give thanks for all creation. Animals receive a special blessing, and the morning is filled with joy.
Advent
Advent wreath-making begins the season and, on the Sunday nearest to St. Nicholas Day, we welcome St. Nicholas, the fourth-century Bishop of Myra, who brings chocolate gold coins and the story of his generosity.
Christmas
Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, welcome all to celebrate the birth of Christ with music, candlelight, and prayer—Holy Eucharist on Christmas Eve and Morning Prayer on Christmas Day.
Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras)
Mardi Gras spirit fills Shrove Tuesday with pancakes, Zydeco music, and laughter, ending with one last “Alleluia” until Easter. During Lent, simple soup suppers, presentations, and conversation invite reflection, prayer, and renewal.
St. David’s Day
On the Sunday nearest March 1, we honor our patron saint with Welsh spirit and San Diego flavor —bakery treats alongside tacos. St. David's call to “do the little things” guides us in faithfulness and love.
The Great Easter Vigil
As darkness falls around the new fire, we hear ancient stories of God’s love, renew our baptismal promises, and share the first Easter Eucharist.
Easter Day. Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Easter morning bursts with joy — flowers, music, and the risen Christ. After worship, the celebration continues with games, a feast, and the annual Easter egg hunt.
Mother’s Day Tea
On the Friday before Mother’s Day, we honor mothers with a festive tea of homemade sandwiches, sweets, and conversation.
Pentecost. The Birthday of the Church!
Fifty days after Easter, the Holy Spirit descends and the Church is born. Red, orange, and yellow fill the day, followed by a taco feast.
Music At St. David's
Our Music Director shapes Sunday’s music around Scripture, drawing from the Church's great traditions, Taizé, and contemporary music.
Our choir leads congregational singing joined by the bell choir, guest soloists, and other musicians throughout the year.

Sacraments
The Sacraments are outward and visible signs of God’s grace through water, bread and wine, prayer, touch, and blessing. Curious about the Sacraments or wondering about a next step? Fr. Kirby would be glad to talk with you.
Healing and Anointing
In times of illness, uncertainty, grief, or other need, the Church offers prayer, laying on of hands, and anointing with blessed oil for healing, comfort, and presence.
Baptism
Through the water of Baptism and the Holy Spirit, we are joined with Christ and become part of the Christian community.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion, the Eucharist, is at the heart of our worship. Around the Table, we share the blessed bread and wine and encounter Christ's presence. All baptized Christians may receive Communion, and anyone may come forward for a blessing.
Confirmation and Reception
In Confirmation, baptized Christians affirm their faith. Those confirmed in another Christian tradition may be received into the Episcopal Church. The bishop celebrates both with prayer and the laying on of hands.
Marriage
Marriage celebrates the sacred covenant of two people committing themselves to love, faithfulness, and mutual care. In the Episcopal Church, marriage is open to all couples regardless of sexual orientation.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation, or Confession, offers a confidential opportunity to name what weighs upon us and receive the assurance of God’s forgiveness and grace.
Ordination
Some are called to serve the Church as deacons, priests, or bishops. Through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, the Church recognizes and blesses that call to ordained ministry.
Burial
In the face of death, the Church gathers in grief and hope, gives thanks for a life, and proclaims resurrection and new life in Christ. If death is near or has occurred, please contact Fr. Kirby for pastoral care and arrangements.
